Reporting directly to Araminta, the Production Manager & Designer is responsible for managing the Production Department of Araminta Campbell LTD. The key focus of the role is to ensure that all design and woven production is aligned with business objectives. The jobholder will line manage staff members within the creative and production teams and will be responsible for setting goals and targets for direct reports, enabling their progression within the company. There will be an element of budgeting and forecasting of costs across woven productions, in conjunction with the Founder and Financial Advisor. Additionally, the postholder will manage QC processes at all stages of production, delegating to team members where appropriate.
The production areas of the business are as follows:
Line management of the Creative Assistant.
Working with Araminta & Creative Assistant to ensure design schedule is kept updated, is on track within designated timescales, and is completed within commercial tolerations. Mentoring Creative Assistant, assisting in design alterations. Responsibility for supplier management, building and maintaining collaborative relationships.
Line management of the Procurement Manager.
Supporting Procurement Manager & Project Manager to ensure mill woven productions are progressed with suppliers within agreed timescales. Responsibility for tracking production pipeline against forecast, updating appropriate colleagues on status. Overall responsibility for supplier management, building and maintaining collaborative relationships.
Line management of the Handweaving Team (temp. maternity cover).
Supporting handweavers to ensure adequate stock levels of fleece and yarn are maintained, assisting in sourcing and forecasting of requirements. Managing production schedule, inputting on colour selection and maintaining archive. Resolving technical issues with designs, handlooms and materials.
Essential Requirements
-Proven line management experience
-Experience working in mill woven production
-Knowledge of hand-woven production
-Proven experience of budgeting and forecasting
-Ability to design using complex weave structures
-Experience working on ScotWeave
Desirable skills
-Experience of managing and sourcing suppliers
-Experience of designing creatively to a brief with clear story telling.
