George Wood: The story behind our Looms
Heritage is in our DNA; we are proud to tell stories through our textiles whilst creating treasured heirlooms that are passed down through generations. As such, we are delighted to be able to tell the tale of the unique heritage of our own heirlooms, our looms.
Traceability in textiles: following Araminta the alpaca
Just over two months ago we invited you to join us on our traceability journey providing transparency into the story of our luxury textiles. By following the journey of our cria, Araminta the Alpaca, we are showing you exactly what goes into making our beautiful pieces.
New partnership: timeless elegance from loom to garment
From design to garment, we are pleased to be announcing our new partnership with Scotland’s most prolific bespoke tailor, Stewart Christie.
Traceability in textiles: Araminta the alpaca
Six months ago we began our journey alongside Araminta the alpaca, showcasing the journey of our textiles from their first step as a cria (a baby alpaca), through to shearing and on to the use of their fleece. By following Araminta, we hope not only to provide transparency but to also share some alpaca knowledge along the way.
The story of a bespoke tweed design
We love tweed. An incredibly versatile material, it has developed from humble origins to become a fabric that is prized by fashion designers, tailors, and even royalty. Combining sketch book and computer, natural colours and specialised machinery, here at Araminta Campbell we aim to stay true to those rural origins whilst developing a contemporary approach to bespoke tweed design and weaving.
The story of our handweaving looms
In the centre of our Edinburgh studio stand our pride and joy; our two handweaving looms. Both have come to us through other weavers, and while we previously didn’t know their full history, we have recently been contacted by their makers daughter, and we now have their full story to share with you!
