Craft Scotland selected Araminta Campbell as one of 8 Scottish makers to exhibit with them at Collect 2020. The exhibition opened in Somerset House on the 27th of February and ran until Sunday the 1st of March.
Held at Somerset House in London, Collect is an international art fair for modern craft and design. Showcasing the innovative work of talented craftspeople from around the world, we were delighted to be selected for the curated exhibit hosted by Craft Scotland.
This involved the work of 7 other Scottish craftspeople, including ceramics by Jonathan Wade and Mella Shaw, handmade furniture by Angus Ross and sculptural jewellery by Naomi Mcintosh.
We were showing our Signature handwoven textiles, all made in our Edinburgh studio as one-of-a-kind artworks. We took the opportunity to display our super-king handwoven blankets, which were created using a complex double weave technique and took over three weeks to make.
It was a beautifully curated exhibition and wonderful to see the work of other amazing craftspeople from Scotland. The common themes of craftsmanship, respect for materials and inspiration found in the Scottish landscape was a thread that tied this diverse work together.
