Each tartan in our collection has been designed by our Founder, Araminta Birse-Stewart (née Campbell), drawing upon her lifelong connection to Scotland’s natural beauty. From the rolling heather hills of Royal Deeside where she grew up, to the rugged coastlines, ancient forests, and shifting skies that define the country’s landscape, every tartan captures the essence of a place through colour and pattern.
 Araminta originally crafted the stunning colours for each tartan design using a highly skilled natural plant dying process, an ancient skill she has been harnessing for the last 20 years. To bring these colours to life at scale, we work closely with a family-run Scottish dye house that expertly matches Araminta’s natural dye palette enabling us to produce these hues sustainably and on a larger scale.
We work hand in hand with rural artisan mills across Scotland in the creation of our tartan pieces. Each of our partners has been carefully chosen for their unwavering dedication to quality and mastery of traditional techniques. We collaborate with mills deeply rooted in their communities some of which are over 200 years old. Where every part of the process, from setting up the looms to the intricate weaving and meticulous finishing in the darn room, is carried out by skilled craftspeople.Â
