Custom Furnishings for a Floating Hotel
The interior design of Fingal Edinburgh celebrates it’s history as a lighthouse service ship. We created custom throws and cushions in a bespoke design to furnish the luxury cabins.

In January 2019, The Royal Yacht Britannia opened Fingal, their new 5 star floating hotel, at the port of Leith on Edinburgh’s waterfront development. A decommissioned lighthouse service ship, Fingal was repurposed to become a luxury hotel and exclusive use venue in a £5 million redevelopment over 3 years. Araminta Campbell was commissioned to create a bespoke Fingal design and produce custom woven furnishings to be used on board the ship.
Contemporary interiors that tell a story of the past
The 23 cabin ship has been transformed by interior designers Alan Pedley and Stephen Flanagan with stylish interiors that reference the glory days of cruise liners as well as details that echo the ship’s previous life sailing the Scottish coast. Araminta Campbell was asked to create bespoke bed runners and cushions for Fingal that would tie together the existing colour scheme of the cabins, with the potential to be developed for future branding or retail opportunities. The resulting design drew on the scenery of the Scottish coast to create a colour blocked check pattern that evoked the sight of a lighthouse against the horizon. Araminta Campbell managed the weaving with a carefully selected Scottish supplier, and the manufacturing of the matching cushions.
