A Tribute to the River Dee with 5% of Profits Donated to Its Protection

The Amber Riverbank Tartan - A Quiet Contribution

The River Dee has always been more than a river for Araminta – it has been a constant thread, weaving through her life and her family’s story. Her childhood home lies not far from its banks in Aberdeenshire, where the water shaped her earliest memories: long walks under the canopy of Scots pines, the changing of the seasons reflected in the water’s surface, and quiet moments of stillness watching birds wheel overhead.

Giving Back to the River Dee

For generations, Araminta’s family have supported the conservation of this remarkable river, and today Araminta continues that legacy through her work with The River Dee Trust. It is with deep personal significance that she has chosen to honour the river through one of her newest tartan designs – Amber Riverbank – and to give back to the Trust that safeguards it.

With every Amber Riverbank tartan purchase, 5% of profit is donated to The River Dee Trust – an award-winning conservation charity dedicated to restoring and protecting the river and its surrounding habitats.

The River Dee is more than a breathtaking Scottish treasure; it is an internationally recognised Special Area of Conservation, home to Atlantic salmon, otters, freshwater pearl mussel. The River Dee Trust works tirelessly to protect this unique ecosystem, addressing the urgent challenges posed by climate change, invasive species, flooding, and drought. The Trust’s work has received national recognition, with their One Million Trees campaign winning Climate Campaign of the Year at the 2024 Holyrood Climate Action Awards, and the Nature & Climate Action Award at the 2023 Nature of Scotland Awards.

The Planting of Tree’s Along The River Dee

Their efforts are ambitious and inspiring:

-Already ahead of schedule the trust has planted over 500,000 native trees – halfway to its ambitious goal of one million. These trees are helping to restore riverbank habitats, provide shade and shelter for young fish, and protect against the impacts of climate change.

-Removing invasive species to give native plants and animals the chance to thrive.

-Protecting iconic species like the Atlantic salmon from the very real risk of extinction.

-Sharing scientific knowledge and educational outreach with local communities to ensure the river’s story continues to inspire future generations.

This work is not only preserving the river for today, but also securing its future for generations to come.

“This is a wonderful commitment from Araminta to our critically important river restoration work, continuing a great tradition. Araminta and her family have been unstinting in their support for the river for many decades. It is especially fitting that the Dee has inspired her design for this tartan, just as it continues to inspire incredible acts of generosity across the community.”

New Trees Planted Along The River Dee

“I am delighted to be able to support The River Dee Trust with one of my newest tartan designs, Amber Riverbank. The design itself is inspired by the River Dee, a place that shaped so much of my childhood. I spent countless days along its banks with my grandfather and family, and it remains a huge part of our heritage. To now give back to the charity that works so hard to protect this extraordinary river means so much to me. The Trust does such incredible work, and I feel honoured to play a small part in supporting their mission.”

– Araminta Birse-Stewart (Founder & Creative Director of Araminta Campbell)

The Amber Riverbank tartan is more than a design – it is a story of memory, heritage, and responsibility. By wearing it, you not only carry a piece of Scotland’s natural beauty but also help preserve it. Together, we can ensure the River Dee continues to flow wild and free for generations to come.
