Beginning her practice as a sole trader in 2014, Araminta went on to establish Araminta Campbell as a business in 2016. She remains the Creative Director and key designer, relishing her involvement in every phase of the creation process, from training new handweavers in our Atelier to crafting bespoke woven designs for clients.

It was tradition that sparked Araminta’s early interest in textiles, thanks to the tweed and tartan she saw at special family occasions. Much of the rest of her childhood was spent exploring nearby fields and building dens in the woodlands surrounding her home in Aberdeenshire. This was the start of the appreciation of Scotland’s natural beauty that would come to shape her work.
Araminta discovered the full creative potential of textiles at secondary school. This led to a degree in Fine Art Embroidery from Manchester Metropolitan University. In 2011, during the final weeks of her course, weaving captured Araminta’s imagination. From then, every spare moment was spent teaching herself the art of weaving, following her artistic impulse, and challenging the limits of what she could achieve on a loom.
After graduation, Araminta’s patient exploration of weaving continued. These years of self-taught technical skill and artistic vision have inspired an approach that pushes the boundaries of traditional manufacture and design. In 2014, Araminta produced the first Araminta Campbell collection, combining unique artistry and craftsmanship with her love of nature and Scotland’s rich heritage. These remain the key inspirations for every collection.
