HRH Camilla, Duchess of Rothesay has been spotted wearing a silk and cashmere tartan scarf by Araminta Campbell. This custom design was created for the Fife Arms Hotel, and gifted to HRH Prince Charles, Duke of Rothesay when he opened the hotel in January 2019.
TRH had been marking the 75th anniversary of VE Day, with the laying of flowers at the War Memorial in Braemar. The event to commemorate men and women who served their country in the Second World War was different, but no less poignant this year. The Coronavirus Pandemic prevented the crowds and parades that had been planned, however it brought into fresh focus the sacrifices made by brave men and women both in the past, and today.

The short ceremony was accompanied by a lone piper, and filmed at a distance. Both Charles and Camilla wore tartan, which they often embrace on their frequent visits to Scotland. Charles wore a kilt in the Ancient Hunting Stewart tartan, which is actually the same tartan Araminta’s husband, Jamie Birse-Stewart wears.
Camilla’s tartan scarf was designed by Araminta for the Fife Arms Hotel, located in the highland village of Braemar. The tartan incorporates the colours and textures of the local landscape, so was the perfect choice for the setting and complemented the green tones of Charles’ kilt. We were thrilled to see our design adding elegance and gravitas at such a widely viewed event. Araminta has met both Charles and Camilla on several occasions and knows they have a great appreciation for Scottish textiles. It is an honour to think of our pieces forming part of the royal wardrobe!
